Bond looked up as Q entered. “This lesson started five minutes ago why are you late?” James was irritated, it had to be this student that was late the lesson had already begun and the other students had been copying down notes from the board and their textbooks he would have to go over everything again now because this student was late. This year was off to a brilliant start he thought to himself wryly. 

“I’m sorry, sir. It was too crowded and I couldn’t make it on time”, he explained turning even redder as he felt the stares of a few of his classmates fixed on him. He couldn’t tell the teacher that he got up late just because he was reading his class’ books, could he? It was enough that people avoided him just because he was a so called genius, just to have them confirm he was obsessed with studying.

“One could say that,” James agreed. He was very particular about his drinks at the very least. “Did you decide what you wanted?” He didn’t know what foods Q liked and hoped there was something on the menu he would agree with.

Sitting here with the Quartermaster was nice, moreso than he had hoped. Most people he went out with made it very clear from the start that the night would end in a bed somewhere. Not having that hanging over his head and just being able to enjoy a meal with someone for once was…nice.

“Uh, yes, the peppered salmon seems good. What are you going to order?”, he replied as his fingers tried to flatten a certain strand of hair that kept sticking out from behind his ear. It wasn’t that Q was not attracted to Bond, but he looked at this ‘date’ cautiously, his mind divided between wanting it to be an expression of James being interested in more than establishing a professional relationship, and being afraid of becoming just another notch on his belt.
